FURCELLARIA From its scientific name Furcellaria lumbricalis. Furcellaria comes from the Latin Furcula, meaning ‘small pointed fork’. It is an algae from the Baltic Sea with a salt concentration very close to that of physiological saline: 10g/L for the Baltic Sea compared with 9g/L for physiological saline.
